If a woman chooses to keep a pregnancy when her partner prefers that she have an abortion, why should he have to pay chi

I'm not so sure about this argument but why should the father be responsible when he didn’t want the child - but a wife want to keep the baby. I'm trying to see it from different perspective / male’s point of view.
